5. Organizer

5-1 Overview of Organizer

In Organizer mode, you can arrange your images and allocate them per page before you start laying out your design. You are then able to choose layout templates for each page that is appropriate to the amount of images allocated to each page.

Simply drag images from the list of images on to the pages in the allocation area. Once image allocation is completed, the images that have been assigned to the corresponding page are displayed in the Images tab in the Design Pallet. You can scroll through Layout Templates that correspond to the amount of images allocated per page or page spread or you may search for templates by clicking on the the 'Layout Templates' button.

5-2-1 Zoom In/Zoom Out

In the image selection window, you can use the magnifying glass tools or you can select 'Small', 'Medium', or 'Large' from the view size pull-down menu to increase or decrease the size of the view of the display area.

5-2-2 Rotate

Used to rotate a photograph 90 degrees clockwise. Unlike the Rotate command in Custom Design Mode, you cannot specify an angle or invert the image.

5-2-3 Crop

You can trim the sides of an image or automatically trim the image to a square by selcting an image that has been allocated and then clicking on the 'Crop' tool.

5-2-4 Deleting Images

You can delete an image that you have added to the layout by using the 'Delete' button on the tool bar, the 'Delete' key on your keyboard, or dragging and dropping an image back into the list of images. You can also remove images from the list of images area by selecting the image and click the 'Clear' button.

5-3 Selecting Images

The Image File List (on the left side) shows the imagesfrom the selected image folders stored on your computer. The Image Allocation Area (on the right side) is the area for determining which page the image should be displayed on.

Select an image to use from the list of images, and drag and drop it onto the desired page in the allocation area.

5-3-1 Selecting Multiple Images

To select multiple images, use the mouse to select a group of images, or select many images by holding the CTRL key (or ) or SHIFT key and clicking on the images individually.
When using the mouse to specify a group of images to select, you cannot select images in both the list of images and the allocated images at the same time.

5-3-2 Enlarge Selected Image

Double-click a selected image to see the image in an elarged view.

5-4 Image File List

This area displays the images stored on your computer. Both images that have been assigned to a page and those that have not been assigned to a page are displayed. Images that have been allocated to a page are marked with a red arrow.

Double-click a thumbnail of an image to enlarge the view of the image. Double-clicking again will return to the previous view.

5-4-1 Selecting Multiple Images

Add images to the List of Images area.
The Select Image dialog box appears. (See 13-2 Select Image Dialog Box for more information.)

5-4-2 Clear Images

Clear selected images in the List of Images by clicking on the 'Clear' button.

5-4-3 Sorting Images

Sort the List of Images manually by drag and drop, or by selecting one of the sort options from the pull-down menu.
You can select from 3 sorting methods:

  • File Name
  • Date Time
  • Folders

Use the 'Sort Direction' button to change between ascending and descending order. The standard setting is ascending order.

5-4-4 Changing Display

Hide/display images in the List of Files that have been allocated to a page by clicking on the 'Show/Hide Used Images' button.

5-5 Image Allocation Area

This area shows the page spreads of the book. Images can be dragged from the Image File List and allocated on the desired pages.

5-5-1 Clear Images

Clear selected images from a page in the Image Allocation Area by clicking on the 'Clear' button.

5-5-1 View Page Spread

Select the page spread you wold like to view from the drop-down menu to jump to allocation area of the selected page spread.

5-5-2 Moving Page Spreads

Select the page you wold like to view from the View Page drop-down to jump to allocation area f the sected page.Two-page spreads can be moved freely among other two-page spreads by dragging them to the new desired location in the layout.

5-6 Select Layout Templates

Once the images have been selected and allocated to the desired pages of the book, you will proceed to the design area to choose what templates to apply to each page. Templates that have the same amount of layout areas as images allocated will be displayed in the upper right hand corener of the screen. You can click on 'Layout Templates' to open the list with all available layout templates to sort through.

You may click 'Previous' to return the photo selection screen, but all changes in Custom Design Mode will be lost.

Once a file is saved, it can only be opened as a Custom Design file and Organizer options will no longer be available. You will however, still be able to use layout templates in Custom Design Mode when the file is reopened.
