5. Tool Bar

5-1 Undo

It erases the last change done reverting it to an older state.

5-2 Redo

The redo command reverses the undo or advances the buffer to a more current state.

5-3 Selection Tool

Use the Selection Tool to select objects in the design.

5-4 Delete Tool

This tool is used to delete the selected object. You may also use a 'delete' key on your keyboard.

5-5 Graphics Tool

If you click the 'Graphics Tool' button or select an already created shape in the design area, the tools for the shape will appear in the extended menu area. When creating a new shape, click and drag the curser in the design area to set the size and location of the shape.

The following menu options can be selected when creating or updating a shape.

5-6 Type Tool

This tool is used to insert text or symbols into the design.

  • Bold
  • Italic
  • Weight
  • Color
  • Spacing
  • Paragraph format
5-6-2 Inserting Text
  1. Click the 'Type Tool.'
  2. Select desired formatting options from the basic type menu bar.
  3. Click the location in the design area to place it.
  4. Enter text.
5-6-3 Alter Text

You can change text that has already been inserted by selecting the text and double-clicking on it.

5-7 Rotate Left

Use this command to rotate the selected object. Select an object (image, shape or text) and click the button to turn the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise with each click.

5-8 Rotate Right

Use this command to rotate the selected object. Select an object (image, shape or text) and click the button to turn the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise with each click.

5-9 Fill Background

This tool is used to specify the background color.


5-9-1 Applying Backgound Color

  1. From the Tool Bar, click on the 'Fill Background' button.
  2. The Color Picker dialog box will open. You may select a background color from the 160 AsukaBook Safe Colors shown in the window, or click on 'Full Color' and select a background color from the full list of colors.
    You can also click the 'Add Color to Swatch' button to manage colors that are used frequently.

  3. Click on the page you would like to apply the selected background color.
5-10 Zoom Tool

Use the Zoom In/Zoom Out to enlarge and reduce the design area. Once you have zoomed in or out, use the 'Alt' key to switch between zoom modes. You can also use the zoom field found in the lower right corner of the page spread window to select a zoom option or to manually enter an elargement ratio. In addition, you may go to Document > Zoom Level to adjust zoom.

5-11 Preview

This tool is used to preview the layout at any point in the design process. With the preview feature, you may navigate through the pages of your book design one by one, skip to the beginning or end, or view as a list and double-clicking a spread to select to preview. There is an option to view the preview at full-scale. In addition to the preview

5-12 Export PDF file for Order

After completing a designed layout of a book, click 'Export PDF file for Order' to generate a PDF for an AsukaBook order. Click 'Preview' to review your design a final time. Then proceed to export. Don't forget to save your design at this time. Make sure to complete all of the active fields for the book and review all book properties before creating the PDF.
