8-1 Redo and Undo


Use these commands to redo or undo a change in the design. Redo and Undo can be performed a maximum of 5 times.
In addition to undoing or redoing changes in the design, Redo and Undo can also be used with guidelines.
8-2 Select

Use the Select tool to select objects in the design. When using another tool, use the 'esc' key to revert back to the Select tool.
8-3 Zoom In/Zoom Out

Use the Zoom In/Zoom Out to enlarge and reduce the design area. Once you have zoomed in or out, use the 'Alt' key to switch between zoom modes.
You can also use the pull-down menu to select the enlargement ratio of 100%, 125%, 133%, 150%, 166%, 200%, 300%, or 400%, or you may find Zoom In and Zoom out under Window in the menu bar.
8-3-1 Zoom In/Zoom Out Sub-Menu

Click the down arrow next to the magnifying glass icon to open the sub-menu to select to Zoom IN, Zoom Out, or to Fit to Screen.
8-4 Rotate

Use this command to rotate the selected object.
Select an image and click the button to turn the image 90 degrees clockwise with each click.
8-4-1 Rotate Sub-Menu

Click the down arrow next to the rotate arrow icon to open the sub-menu to select to Set Rotation, Flip Horizontal, or to Flip Vertical.
To set desired rotation, select an image and then click 'Set Rotation' from the Rotate Sub-Menu. Enter the angle of the rotation as well as the direction of the rotation.
You may also invert an image by selecting the image and clicking 'Flip Horizontal' or 'Flip Vertical' from the Rotate Sub-Menu.
8-5 Crop

Use this tool to crop the selected image to the desired size and shape.
- Select an image.
- Click 'Crop'.
- Select the size and shape and area of the image to be displayed.
- Click 'OK' and the image will be updated in the design area.

8-5-1 Width and Height
You may manually enter the desired size of the image in inches. The changes will be automatically updated in the image viewer window. You can use the Up/Down buttons to change the numerical value in increments of 1 unit. The unit of measurement is dependent upon the settings for the Ruler.
If you use the mouse to set the crop area, the actual width and height will be updated with the new size.
8-5-2 Square
You may click 'Square' to set the crop of the image to the shape of a square. Either the width or height value, whichever is larger, is used to create the square shape. If one of these values exceeds the maximum for the image size, a square of the maximum size is created starting from the upper left corner of the image.
8-5-2 Manually
When the image is opened in the Crop window, the image will be outlined in red. You may click and drag one of the red borders of the crop area up, down, in or out. Simply drag the red frame to any position on the image to set the new image size and space.
8-6 Background Color

This tool is used to specify the background color.

- From the toolbar, click the 'Background Color' button.
- The Color Selector dialog box will. You may select a background color from the 160 AsukaBook Safe Colors shown in the window, or remove the checkmark from the AsukaBook Safe Colors checkbox and select a background color from the full list of colors.
You can also click the 'Add Color to Swatch' button to manage colors that are used frequently.

- Click on the page you would like to apply the selected background color.
8-7 Delete

This tool is used to delete the selected object. You may also use the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.
8-8 Shape

If you click the 'Shape' tool button or select an already created shape in the design area, the tools for the shape will appear in the extended menu area. When creating a new shape, click and drag the courser in the design area to set the size and location of the shape.

The following default settings are applied when you first select Shape.
- Shape: Rectangle
- Color: White
- Line Thickness: 6px
- Line Color: Black
8-8-1 Shape
You may select either Rectangular or Elliptical.
8-8-3 Color
Used to select the color of the inside the shape. When clicked, the Color Selector dialog box appears.

8-8-4 Line Thickness
You can select a value of 6 or 12 pixels. If you do not want a border around the shape, you can select the line color to match the color of the shape.
8-8-5 Line Color
You can select the color of the border of the shape. When clicked, the Select Color dialog box appears.

8-9 Text

This tool is used to insert text into the design.

8-9-1 Inserting Text
- Click the 'Text' button.
- Click the location in the design area to place it.
- Enter the text into the dialog box that appears.
- Select desired formatting options and click 'OK'.
8-9-2 Alter Text
You can change text that has already been inserted by double-clicking the text, or by selecting the text and clicking the 'Text' button.
8-11 Open in Photoshop®

Use this tool to open and edit images in Photoshop.
Select an image (only one image at a time) and click on the button to open the image in Photoshop. If multiple versions of Photoshop are installed on your computer, the default version will open . The updates to the image will only be shown in AsukaBook Maker once the image has been flattened and saved as a JPEG in Photoshop.

8-11-1 Manage Actions
You can add or delete actions saved in you AsukaBook Maker software. Click on the 'Manage Actions' link in the sub-menu of 'Open in Photoshop' to manage actions. To add actions, click '+' and enter both the Action Set Name and the Action Name that you have saved in Photoshop. You may also remove actions from the list of actions by clicking '-' when it is selected.
8-11-2 Apply an Action
- Select an image in the design area.
- Click on the sub-menu of the Ps icon.
- Drag your mouse onto an name of an action set.
- Drag your mouse onto the name of an action.
- Click on the action to Apply.
- Click 'OK' in the dialog box that appears in AsukaBook Maker.
- Photoshop will open and run the selected action on the image.
- Confirm the changes by clicking 'OK' in the dialog box in AsukaBook Maker.
- The updated image will be displayed in the design area.
